Seed, Soil, and Sun (part 2)

OK, some hits and misses in the garden. The leeks and carrots tried their best to grow, but in the end, we only reaped a small bunch of young carrots and zero leeks. The radishes flourished and had an early end to its season.

Pictured below are some success stories.

The peas were amazing. From seed we gathered a good amount.

Just some that we've gathered.

Shucked.

On to the plate. (Peppered Steak, PEAS and potato)

The tomato plants are doing great late in this season.

One of many fruits.

We've had Red Zebra. They were meaty and savory in our salad.

The beets were a success but the weather here prevented them from reaching their full potential. We had dollar coin-sized beets but the leaves were nice and new and perfect for saute.

Beet leaves galore.

On the plate. Pan fried chicken (herbs from the garden), pasta and sauteed BEET LEAVES.

To come are the rest of the tomatoes, and the biggest surprise of all are the bell peppers and assorted chilies from seed. They were late bloomers but we've got flowers now, and soon the peppers!
So, it turns out, it feels most gratifying and satisfying to put on our plates the fruits of our labor - literally!
