Seed, Soil, and Sun (Season 2)

England had a record breaking winter spell this year. Weeks of sub-zero temperatures, fresh powdery snow everyday, and frozen lakes and canals have not been seen in these parts since the 1950's. So the first sign of spring (March), we sowed seeds for a second attempt of what we hope to be "productive" vegetable garden.

Seed sown, more cold spells hit and we resolved that it will take a miracle for healthy produce this year. Yet, the sun finally turned up and the plants are finally happy. A few images of some really early success stories:

Our radishes this year were early and plenty.

Sown in March, already a good harvest just this month.

Tried some lettuce this year. These are "Little Gem" lettuces.

A fine success.

And a worthy dinner component.

Tried for microgreens this year. These Sunflower micro-sprouts only needed less than a week to sprout.

And in less than an hour, it's what's for dinner.
Next up are the number of varieties of tomato and our attempt at potatoes.
